Véronique Lozet, 58, works as a Project Assistant at Cegelec. On the construction site, she serves as a key point of contact for the electrical team: she handles administrative tasks, ensures compliance with procedures for submitting access requests for the job site, assists engineers with managing technical documents, and makes sure that her colleagues, suppliers, and subcontractors receive the necessary information promptly. Handling delivery requests for the construction site is also part of her daily work. Thanks to her pragmatic approach, she streamlines day-to-day operations and helps ensure the project runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely.

Véronique: For me, it is important that I enjoy my job. If something does not suit me, I am not afraid to try something else. Maybe that is also because I do not have a specific degree that ties me to a single sector. I do not see that as a limitation, but rather as a form of freedom: I can keep trying, learning and reinventing myself over and over again. Throughout my career, I have worked in very different environments: from IT consulting and training on accounting software to administration, property management and the sale of spare parts for the hospitality industry. Every experience has taught me something. When the opportunity at Cegelec came along, I was not yet familiar with the construction or electrical sector, but that did not stop me. I was eager to learn something new and to find my place in this sector as well.

Véronique: A lot happens at once on a construction site. I am usually there around six o’clock so I can help kick off the day and ensure colleagues can get right to work if they have questions or practical issues. A lot of my work happens behind the scenes, but it helps keep daily operations running smoothly. I make sure that tasks do not get left undone, that questions are addressed promptly and that colleagues can focus on their own work. I am not an engineer or a technical drafter, but I do have my own place on the construction site. I bring structure, keep an overview and help where needed. I get a lot of satisfaction from that. Everyone contributes to a project in their own way and for me, it is important that I feel useful and can be proud of what I do.
Véronique: The construction site is obviously a male-dominated world, but at the same time, I see how quickly that is changing. You see more and more women in this sector, even in roles where you would have expected fewer women in the past. I think that is a wonderful development. What I have learned above all is that trust grows through what you do. In technical environments, people are sometimes a bit hesitant at first, but as soon as you join them in looking for solutions and help solve their problem, that changes quickly. Diversity really makes a difference there. People with different backgrounds, experiences and ways of thinking ask different questions and see different solutions. That makes a team more open and stronger. I appreciate that respect, safety and care for people at VINCI Energies are not just slogans, but values you feel every day on the job site. My advice to women who are hesitating? Give it a try. You do not have to know everything in advance to find your place. If you are curious and willing to learn, you will often get further than you think.
